The public schools that students were forced to attended were under resourced, the parents lacked financial means to get their students to school or miss work to attend parents conferences so there was not really a choice for students as selective enrollment advertised. Either you had the test criteria to attend the ivy league high schools or you didn't.

B. "Save Dyett" is the quote I want to use and chapter 1 represented a community that refused to give up with constant protests throughout Chicago to keep Dyett High School from closing. From hunger protest to RFP communist engaged in with the Alderman office and the CPS offices, the parents, teachers, children, and stood united to get their voices heard. Sometimes it takes a village to unite together then to stand separate in advocating for a better situation. Although none of the RFPs were utilized, the school was still able to reopen and operate as a Open Public school.
