MORRISON, WALKER, HURSTON (3) Careful examination of three major Black women writers: Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, Zora Neale Hurston. Exploration of their lives, writing, and the literary criticism of their works. (This course satisfies the elective course requirements for the African American Studies major or minor.)
This semester we will explore various literary issues, for example, Black folk culture, Black womanhood, racial and gender identity, female empowerment, marriage, and motherhood, through the works of these influential Black women writers Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, and Zora Neale Hurston.
