Booker T 's beliefs were specific and broken down into what he called the purpose of education. He felt that African Americans should receive vocational training to enable them to acquire skills for trades. He also emphasized the importance of self-help and the idea that education should empower individuals to be self-sufficient. Washington also wanted African Americans to focus on economic advancement and demonstrate their value to society.

Bookert T's quote if you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else this quote this one's symbolizes Washingtons beliefs in hard work, character and the importance of uplifting others.  To strive and overcome any obstacle in life even through slavery.
