In order to successfully complete the training, you should have a basic knowledge of

  • Computers,
  • The internet,
  • CSU email
  • How to attach or drag and drop files.

All of the activities in the OCT course modules must be completed before a certificate is issued. The activities in this course are tallied to accumulate in total points. The total points that you can get total 1600 give or take. There may be an extra assignment or two added to the training. In order to receive your certificate, participants must do the following:

  1. Complete 75% of assignments and quizzes for a total of 1200 points.
  2. Submit substantial posts to discussion forums where necessary.
  3. Participate in 1 or more synchronous sessions.
  4. Complete final project and participate in final project presentations.
  5. Complete the participant survey.

All coursework must be successfully completed by 11:00 PM on Monday,

The objective of the Introduction Module is to introduce the students to the class mechanics, provide a course overview, and provide important course documents. 

There are no grades for the Introduction module.

The objective of the Getting Started Activities is to assess your ability to complete online activities and get to know the other participants in the training.

The total grade for the Orientation Module is 400 points. Here is the breakdown of the activities in the Orientation Module.

*You must complete these activities in order to receive your certificate.


  • SmarterMeasure Assessment - 100pts
  • Edit your Moodle Profile - 100pts
  • Video Introduction - 100pts (0 points for text introductions)

    The objective of the Online vs. Traditional Courses module is to review and understand the difference between a traditional face to face course and an online course. The module also covers how to engage your students and build a sense of community among your learners.

    This module has a total of 300 points.

    * These activities must be completed to receive your certificate.


    • Synchronous Lecture (synchronous or review of recording) to be determined by the instructor - 100pts
    • Exam (Test Your Knowledge) - 100pts
    • Reflection (Engagement, Interaction, Presence) - 100pts


    The purpose of the Working in Moodle Module is for you to become familiar with adding content and using the tools in Moodle to build your online course. 

    This module has a total of 300 points. Grades for the Working in Moodle module are as follows.

    * These activities must be completed to receive your certificate.

    • Setting up your Gradebook in your final project course  - 100pts.
    • Complete the Working in Moodle checklist - 100pts
    • Create a Quiz, Test, or Exam - 100pts

    Your final project will culminate in the completion of a final project checklist. The checklist is a total of 100 percent.

    *You must complete the checklist with at least an 80% in order to receive your certificate of completion.

    You must set up a time with me to present your final project. Your final project presentation will tentatively take place on Zoom.  This date and/or presentation is subject to change.
