Individual Submission: Students write a research paper integrating at least 5 scholarly sources from academic journals. The paper should be in APA format and at least 1250 words.
- All sources used should be from academic articles based out of the United States.
- All sources used must directly tie to your research question and must hellp you to answer your research question.
- Focus on one or two historically underrepresented groups from the United States (e.g. African-American, Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, Students with disabilities, rural students).
- If your paper is on college persistence and retention, focus on the undergraduate level, and not graduate students.
- All articles should be from academic databases and not from "blogs," online articles, or organizational websites. As stated in class, if you would like to use an additional source outside of academic databases, you must have asked for permission in advance.
- If you would like to use a first-hand interview from a subject matter expert and authority in the field (e.g. a president of a university or dean at a specific school) that is posted via Youtube, you may use that in addition to your mandatory (5) academic journal resources.
- Your in-text citations as well as your reference section should follow APA guidelines.
- Your paper should be written by you only. As stated in the syllabus, academic honesty is very important.
As with any paper written for this class, there should be no first person (I, me, my), second person, (you), or first-person possessive/collective language (we, us, our) used. Do not speak directly to the reader and do not reference yourself as a writer.
